Scholarship Criteria
The Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship provides financial assistance to women who are studying for a qualification to:
- enter or re-enter the workforce; or
- change occupations
Who can apply?
Women who are:
Evidence of eligibility must be provided as part of the application process.
- New Zealand citizens living in New Zealand. Those holding a NZ Resident Visa and those on a student visa are not eligible.
- At least 25 years of age on 1 September in the year of application.
- Enrolled in full-time study or part time study of at least 50% of full-time equivalent in an NZQA approved education programme that is to be undertaken in NZ.
- Have a proven record of academic achievement - you must have completed at least one year of tertiary study. If you have completed tertiary studies previously then the first year of a new degree is not your first year of study.
- Able to use the scholarship in the year for which it is awarded and/or summer school December - February.
- Willing to participate in Soroptimist promotional activities (if successful).
- The Betty Loughhead Soroptimist Scholarship Trust does not offer scholarships to students enrolled in Doctoral degree programmes e.g. PhD (Doctor of Philosophy) , LLD (Doctor of Laws). EdD (Doctor of Education).
